The award for Business of the Year – Level I went to Calhoun Air Center. Named the state’s most improved airport in 2009, the Calhoun County Airport hosts two public events each year to introduce children and adults to aviation. The airport also sponsored an art contest; several winners moved on to compete and win in the annual TxDOT aviation art contest. Recent improvements at the airport have included renovations along the runway and taxiway and a pilot training center, which recently earned the airport a contract to train pilots for the Victoria County Airport.
