Calhoun Air Center was presented with an honorary seal on Friday, March 18 by Women Of Aviation Worldwide (WOAW). The flight school is one of 13 Flight Training Centers, worldwide that have been awarded the WOAW Certified Women Friendly Flight Training Facility seal. “By becoming an active participant of Women Of Aviation Worldwide Week, Calhoun Air Center has shown its commitment to encouraging women to consider aviation as a hobby or a career.” stated Mireille Goyer, Women Of Aviation Worldwide Founder. “We are confident that women who choose Calhoun Air Center as their flight training provider will receive outstanding support to help them reach their aviation goals,” she adds.
Calhoun Air Center is proud to display the special seal, which encourages more women to be involved in the aviation industry. WOAW Certified Women Friendly flight training facilities are known to seek and value female customers’ business. Airport manager, Dianna Stanger has displayed a personal commitment to help achieve the goals of the WOAW community by offering 98 female passengers free rides in her E-102 helicopter during Women of Aviation Worldwide Week, March 7-13, 2011. The girls and young ladies were also encouraged to sign up for organizations for youth interested in aviation such as the Young Eagles program and Girls With Wings.
To receive a WOAW Certified Women Friendly Flight Training Facility seal, flight training facilities must meet the following criteria:
* Support community outreach programs towards girls and women
* Be actively involved in promoting aviation to women
