Victoria, Texas— May 12, 2011 — The world of flight offers fun, freedom and experiences unlike anything else in the world. And you’re invited to participate as Chapter 340 of the Experimental Aircraft Association and Calhoun Air Center hosts an International Learn To Fly Day event at Victoria Flyers in Victoria, Texas on Saturday, May 21.
International Learn to Fly Day was created to invite people interested in the world of flight to discover more by meeting local aviators and discovering the initial steps toward “living the dream” of personal flight. Nearly 600,000 people from all walks of life in the U.S. are licensed pilots, but millions more have dreamed of joining that group.
The event is a flight experience for the whole family! Mini introductory flights will be offered, weather permitting, to adults age 18 and older for $15 per person on a first-come, first-served basis. The flights are free for kids 17 and under. Plus sign up for the Young Eagles program and become apart of the EAA Flight Plan, your route from first flight to a licensed pilot.
“Involving young people in aviation is of vital importance to our aviation infrastructure. Despite current market conditions, an acute pilot shortage will impact all segments of the industry in the next 5-10 years. We need passionate, competent pilots to fill those shoes. Plus, let’s be honest. What’s more fun than flying?” Aaron Dabney, President, EAA Chapter 340.
During the EAA Chapter 340 International Learn To Fly Day event, guests will discover more about how learning to fly is not as time-consuming or expensive as you might think. What are you waiting for? Come hang out with us at the hangar and discover the possibilities and enjoyment available in aviation.
“Hang Out at the Hangar” in Victoria, Texas at Victoria Flyers located at 276 Hangar Drive South Victoria, TX 77904. It is scheduled to take place on May 21, 2011 from 10am-3pm, for more information contact Steve Plunkett, 361.552.1228, fly@calhounaircenter.com.
